Hampshire powered
into the Middleton Cup Quarter Finals with an impressive 14 shot win over Berkshire (18 points to 4)
This winner takes
all match was always going to be close and so it proved with the scores virtually
level at the half way point.
Led by Robert
Newman’s rink Berkshire pulled ahead and
at the 15 end point they led by 8 shots.
But in an
impressive 3 end surge Hampshire scored 28 shots across the green against
16 from Berkshire and this continued to
give Hampshire a deserved 123 shots to 109 victory.
All 6 rinks
played well and the win means that Hampshire top their league with 3 wins
out of 3 and an excellent 58 points out of a possible 66.
The only obstacle
now between here and the last 4 at Worthing is Devon
CBA who we will play at 14:00 on Saturday 19 July.
That all
important Quarter Final takes place at Westlecot BC
in Wiltshire and we hope as many supporters as possible will be there to
help us reach the National Finals on Saturday 23 August.
